Legal Disclaimer & Responsible Use

A quick word from Steven the Seagull, before the serious bit.

I run Brighton Spores on the straight and narrow — always have, always will. I love mycology, and I want everyone here for the same reasons I am: the science, the study, and the sheer wonder of what's going on under a microscope lens. So, here's where I lay out, plainly, what I sell, what it's for, and exactly where I draw the line. Have a proper read. This matters.

What I sell, and what it's for

Every spore, print and swab sold by Brighton Spores is supplied strictly for microscopy, taxonomy, research and educational purposes only. That is the entire reason they're here. They're intended for study and observation under magnification — nothing more, nothing else.

The legal bit (UK)

Under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, psilocybin and psilocin are Class A controlled substances, and any fungus containing them is unlawful to possess, produce or supply.

Spores are a different thing entirely. Spores do not contain psilocybin or psilocin — which is precisely why they can be lawfully bought, sold and possessed in the UK for legitimate microscopy and research.

The line — and it's a bright, clear, non-negotiable one — is cultivation. Germinating or growing spores into mushrooms that contain those compounds counts as production of a Class A controlled substance, which is a serious criminal offence carrying severe penalties. I do not sell my products for that purpose; I do not condone it, and I will not assist with it in any way, shape or form.

Your responsibilities

By placing an order with Brighton Spores, you confirm that:

·        You are 18 years of age or older.

·        You are buying for lawful purposes only — microscopy, taxonomy, research or education.

·        You will not attempt to cultivate the spores or otherwise use anything I sell to produce a controlled substance.

·        You understand it's your job to know and follow the law that applies to you. Ordering from outside the UK? Then that means your own country's laws — check them before you buy, because that one's on you, not me.

Once a product leaves my wings and lands in your hands, how it's used is your responsibility, and yours alone.

Where I draw the line

I keep to the straight and narrow, and I don't wander down the shadowy paths — so please don't ask me to.

·        I won't give cultivation advice, "grow" tips, substrate chat, or anything of that sort.

·        If you come to me with questions that are a bit questionable, or anything that steps outside what's legal here in the UK, I'll politely tell you I can't help. No offence meant, and hopefully none taken — it's simply where my line sits.

·        I reserve the right to refuse, cancel or refund any order at my sole discretion if I've reason to believe it's intended for anything unlawful.

None of this is me being po-faced or preachy. It's me looking after this little shop, the craft and all the good folk who enjoy it properly — so that Brighton Spores can keep on doing its thing for a long time yet.

Odds and ends

This notice may be updated now and then, so it's worth a glance from time to time. It sits alongside my other terms and my Cancellations & Refunds policy, and nothing here affects your statutory consumer rights.

Thanks for keeping it clean — and happy scoping.
